Holiday wish list

If it’s not too late to place our orders, we’ve got a few requests, Santa. Drawn from the streets of Pound Ridge and Bedford, Katonah and Bedford Hills. From the citizens of our towns, here’s our holiday wish list.

• Tax reform that brings relief to homeowners ... and spreads the burden equally and fairly.

• Never to return to Iraq in a time of war.

• Enough local diversity that we don’t have a need for the county fair housing settlement.

• Secure pensions for everyone, not just teachers and municipal workers.

• To spend a night in a room at Richard Gere’s new inn. And dinner at the Post while we’re at it.

• A continued moratorium on hydrofracking in New York State.

• County support for the Trailside Nature Museum — we need it to help preserve a love of nature and our natural heritage.

• To see the latest Jean-Georges restaurant open in Pound Ridge this year.

• Unfunded mandate relief — at all levels of government. That’s where we’re getting creamed.

• A round of 9 at the Pete Dye-designed Pound Ridge Golf Club.

• The water filtration plant in Bedford — open this year!

• The credit that Fox Lane wrestling coach Joe Amuso truly deserves for leading the boys year-in, year-out, to success.

• A home energy audit for everybody.

• A request from reporter Don Heppner: Former Pound Ridge town clerk Suzy Beatty’s famed rum balls.

• To know where State Senator Greg Ball really stands on the issues.

• Plenty of food on the shelves at the Community Center of Northern Westchester. May we all have the comfort to give comfortably. And the joy to share it!

• An end to the “holiday-Christmas-Hanukkah-Kwanzaa” debate. Call it whatever you want. Just put the word “Happy” in front of it.

And in Pound Ridge, all we really want is that Scotts Corners cell tower.
